Our Holiday Break

olive.jpgOlive here! We had a nice long holiday break this year. Dad works at a university and always gets off between Christmas and New Years. Mom decided to take time off and join him this year. So, what did the humans do for their 10-day break? Absolutely nothing!

Okay, okay…I guess they didn’t do nothing. They did host Christmas dinner. They also saw five movies in theater (Star Wars: The Last Jedi, Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle, The Greatest Showman, All the Money in the World and Molly’s Game). They had a random celebrity sighting (Ted Danson and Mary Steenburgen). And they also took lots of naps. (That’s the nothing part I was talking about earlier.) Mom was sick for about half of the break, so that’s her excuse for napping so much.

But when she wasn’t watching movies and napping, Mom took lots of photos of us, although she never got around to sharing them. So, I thought I’d pop in and give you this pictorial recap of our holiday break.

Woodrow and Dexter

The temperature finally dropped here in Southern California and Mom spotted the two tabby boys sleeping together…not once, not twice, but three times! As regular readers may know, Woodrow isn’t really friends with any of us first three cats. So, Mom gets really excited when she sees something like this.

Sophie

Now, as any good older sibling, I’m happy to embarrass Sophie any chance I get. And this is definitely embarrassing! Dad doesn’t like dressing up us cats…which is why it surprised everyone when he bought this police uniform for Sophie!

“Freeze! Put your hands up!”

Mom and Dad couldn’t entice her to walk in it, which would’ve made it really funny. But I guess she does look kinda cute in the uniform. They know to not try this with me!

And if that outfit wasn’t enough, our grandma bought a sweatshirt for Eddie (our woofie brother) for Christmas and it was way too small for him. You can probably guess what happened…Mom made Sophie wear it instead. The second photo really accentuates her primordial pouch, don’t ya think?

Harley

Foster cat Harley is still with us. He now regularly joins us downstairs whenever he feels like it. He also tries to play with Woodrow in the mornings. Sometimes he successful. During the break, Harley kept Mom company when she was sick in bed.

And when he wasn’t helping Mom to feel better, Harley could be found in his cozy cat bed, keeping warm.

Me!

That just leaves me. What was I up to this holiday break? Well, perhaps it was the Christmas spirit in me, but Mom actually found me touching Sophie! I know, I couldn’t believe it myself.

“No pictures! I don’t want proof of this, Mom!”

Holiday Cards

Mom posted the below video on Facebook earlier. But we wanted to post it here as well and say thank you for all the holiday cards we received! After Mom made the video, she found three others she’d left out! She says she’s sorry if she missed including your card.

Thank You!

Lastly, we want to say thank you for reading our blog in 2017. Mom certainly wasn’t as diligent in posting as she was the previous year. But overall, 2017 was a pretty good year for the Three Chatty Cats blog. And we’re excited to see what’s to come in 2018.

Happy New Year from all of us at Three Chatty Cats!

  2. I am impressed with the celebrity sighting, have they ever seen Nic Cage? You all look adorable. Wishing you all a happy and healthy 2018! XO

  3. I don’t even know where to start! Two snuggling tabby/tuxies … Olive and Sophie!!!!!! [OMG!!!!] … and that handsome Harley. I’m thinking that purple blanket is a miracle worker. Happy New Year!

  4. Love the sweatshirt even if Sophie isn’t too crazy about it OR the police uniform….sounds like a lot snuggling going on at your house for the holiday. Why not?! Sounds good to me! HAPPY NEW YEAR!

    Hugs, Teddy

  5. How nice that your parents were able to take 10 days off, sorry about your mom being sick!

Special message from Rosie to Sophie: any time you want hide out over here from the costumes, you are more than welcome. Costumes are only for silly dogs in this house!

  6. Sophie is so cute in the police uniform and the sweatshirt. You had lots of lovely cards too.
Happy New Year to all of you!

  7. I am up there with Sophie. I think the snow flake shirt was way nicer than the police get-up. And it is not nice to talk about a lady’s pouch, let me tell you. As for breaks, we really liked a site we discovered that offers holidays with and for cats in Austria. They have a whole list of places where you can sleep and are welcome as a cat, some have special cativities to do. Mom looked something up on the internet because someone told her about hotels for dogs, so she thought, we have to have our own places for holiday breaks as well. Now I have to just convince her to take me along when she and Dad go on their next holiday together. At least we have a whole set of reviews on carriers for flights at https://catsareontop.com
    Happy New Year. Fuzzie.

  9. MOL…I just love the sweatshirt on you, Sophie :D The kitties look very cosy together and very synchronic :D Grandpaw was home too and we spend Christmas together, so no introoders this time…Phew! Pawkisses for a Happy Healthy New Year to all of you. Make it a great one! :) <3

  10. Happy New year, sweet pals! It sounds like it was a good one. Well, except for the part when your Mom was sick!

  11. Happy New year! It sounds like everyone has a fun story – the brofurs are cuddling and they managed to do some synchronized sleeping, love that pic! Sophie got to look cute in her police costume and you, Olive, got a bit touchy feely with Sophie, isn’t that the sweetest thing! Does that set a precedent for what’s to come in 2018? We’re looking forward to seeing more of yours and your siblings antics, rescue stories and foster fails (giggle giggle) in 2018.

  12. We loved the update and the photos. Looks like things are fairly peaceful at your house. Our humans had a little extra time from that place they call “work” and they spent it mostly with us. We quite like being the center of attention. Sophie you’re rockin’ the outfits!

Happy New Year, sending you lots of purrs and head bonks for 2018!
