Today, I take you behind the scenes of a kitten shower hosted by the foster mom at Meet the Fosters LA. Christina G., who I’ve featured on the blog before, fosters kittens for Best Friends Animal Society in Los Angeles. Christina was kind enough to share her tips and photos on how to host a kitten shower to benefit a rescue organization. Continue reading “How to Host a Kitten Shower to Benefit a Rescue Organization”

Meet the Fosters LA!
The wonderful world of social media allows us to “meet” people that we never would in person – across countries and continents. Recently, one Instagram account caught my eye, and that was Meet_the_FostersLA. I followed the account because of 1) fostering, of course, and 2) the beautiful photography!
I reached out to the human behind the account and asked which organization she fosters for. And what a small world it is…Christina G. fosters kittens for Best Friends Animal Society in Los Angeles – the same rescue that I foster for! Continue reading “Meet the Fosters LA!”
Cathy’s Foster Kitties
Cathy Carlson has been fostering cats on and off for about 20 years, but she retired in early 2014 so she could foster neonatal kittens full-time! Cathy currently fosters for Ventura County Animal Services in Southern California.
I recently started following Cathy and her foster kitties on Facebook and Instagram. And oh, do I get my daily dose of cuteness from her profiles. Let’s learn more about Cathy and her fostering!
Catching Up with Foster Parent Cori
Today we meet a fellow blogger and foster parent. Cori, who blogs at Three Irish Cats, has been fostering for Rescue Angels of Southern Maryland since December 2015. Cori also handles the PR, social media, and marketing for the rescue group.

How did you get into fostering?
We got into fostering in late 2015 after we trapped five cats that were living in our backyard. We were able to find homes for two of the kittens, but we learned the hard way that ferals don’t stand a chance at the shelter. Two of the cats were killed because they were thought to be feral; the third was euthanized because he had severe injuries. We were heartbroken, so we turned to Rescue Angels to learn more about TNR (trap-neuter-return). From there, we started fostering. Continue reading “Catching Up with Foster Parent Cori”
A Fostering Story with Karen Hill
Today we meet Karen Hill, who has been volunteering with Brooke’s Legacy Animal Rescue for nine years, fostering cats for them and occasionally dogs as well. The rescue, located in Naples, Florida, is foster-based and has no physical shelter.
I had a few quick questions for Karen and then she so graciously shared a special fostering story with us.
What surprised you the most about fostering?
I can’t say I was surprised but certainly have learned Continue reading “A Fostering Story with Karen Hill”
Catching Up with Foster Parent Heather
Heather Davies is a foster parent for Toronto Cat Rescue (TCR) in Canada and has been with the group for three years. When I asked Heather how she got into fostering, she said that she wanted a way to “pay back” for the two awesome cats she adopted from TCR. She also follows Foster Dad John at The Critter Room and found him very inspiring.
Having recently taken in her 64th and 65th fosters (a.k.a the Wee Trees), Heather has Continue reading “Catching Up with Foster Parent Heather”

Happy Tails – Foster Parent Stacy
Stacy Hurt, a fellow cat blogger, has been fostering kitties in an unofficial capacity her whole life – either caring for someone else’s cat or perhaps a stray. But in an official capacity, Stacy has been fostering for about two years for MeoowzResQ. She currently is a “vacation foster” – which means she cares for cats whose foster parents are away, or for kitties that are waiting for their “permanent” foster home.
In the past two years, Stacy has fostered 20 cats, not including all of the “vacation” kitties!
Happy Tails – Foster Parent Valerie
Valerie B. has been fostering cats and kittens in the Anaheim, California area for just under three years for MeoowzResQ. All costs to foster are covered by the rescue, which means Valerie can focus solely on caring for the lucky kittens and cats in her care.
To date, Valerie has fostered and adopted out 79 kitties!

How did you get into fostering?
My boyfriend and I had just moved in together in Anaheim from Oceanside, and we both always had pets. We considered a dog, but knew our schedules would not be suitable for a puppy. I always had cats and wanted one, but he said he was allergic. Of course, I didn’t believe he was. One day I was helping someone look for local volunteer opportunities when Continue reading “Happy Tails – Foster Parent Valerie”
