Today, I take you behind the scenes of a kitten shower hosted by the foster mom at Meet the Fosters LA. Christina G., who I’ve featured on the blog before, fosters kittens for Best Friends Animal Society in Los Angeles. Christina was kind enough to share her tips and photos on how to host a kitten shower to benefit a rescue organization. Continue reading “How to Host a Kitten Shower to Benefit a Rescue Organization”
They have arrived! Yesterday morning, Ross and I drove up to Best Friends in Los Angeles to pick up some new foster kittens. We ended up with the “Y” litter – all with Y names – Yonkerz, Yammerz, Yupperz, Yapperz. A little silly, so we decided to give them nicknames while they’re here.
I’m pleased to introduce you to Buster, Zip, Callie and Casper. Here they are on the way home. Zip is the vocal one. Continue reading “Sunday Selfies with the New Kids”
It’s with a heavy heart that I tell you that sweet little Ear Muffs, the male of the litter we were fostering, passed away on Tuesday this week at the shelter.
This past weekend, I had the opportunity to meet with Samantha Bell DiGenova, the Cat Behavior & Enrichment Lead for Best Friends Animal Society in Los Angeles, and tour their impressive facility.
I met Samantha through volunteering with the Jackson Galaxy Foundation’s Cat Pawsitive initiative (she as a trainer-mentor to shelters and me as a writer) and asked her if I could drive up for a visit. Being the fabulous person that she is, Samantha immediately agreed, and she gave me a personal tour of the Los Angeles facility, which I’m happy to share with you today.
I ain’t foolin’ ya and it’s no joke! Three Chatty Cats has gone to the dogs! Well, just one dog…Eddie. Before I became a cat mama, closing in on six years ago now, I was a dog mama. When certain individuals found out I was starting a cat blog, they said, “But what about Eddie?” So for those dog lovers out there, this one’s for you! (With a few cat pictures sprinkled in, naturally.)

We had told the adoption coordinator that we were looking for a small dog, so she had bathed and set aside a couple to look at. As soon as we entered the room lined with kennels, there was Continue reading “The Older Brother”
