Shelter Pet Photos #RememberMeThursday

In honor of Remember Me Thursday, I thought I’d share some photos I’ve taken of shelter pets. If you’re not aware, Remember Me Thursday is the fourth Thursday of every September, and it’s meant to shine a light on orphan pets in shelters and rescues that are waiting for their forever homes. The goal is to get the whole world talking about shelter pets and pet adoption on social media!

Remember Me Thursday

Will you be shining a light today on shelter pets?

My Rescue Pets #RememberMeThursday

As most readers know by now, we’re proud to be participating in Remember Me Thursday here at Three Chatty Cats. And today is the day…it’s Remember Me Thursday and we want everyone talking about pet adoption on social media!

We’ve already shared Woodrow’s Pro Tips for Adopting a Shelter Cat (from a former shelter cat!) – and that’s also the post where fellow bloggers can link up to the official Remember Me Thursday Blog Hop that we’re co-hosting with Lola the Rescued Cat.

But today, I’d like to share with you our pets’ rescue stories. Some of you may already know them, and some may be reading them for the first time. But what better day to share about our rescue pets again than on #RememberMeThursday. And perhaps, someone considering getting a new pet will decide on pet adoption first. 7 Easy Ways to Help Shelter Pets

If you’re an animal lover, you’ve likely found yourself asking “What can I do to help shelter pets?” Knowing that there are millions of animals waiting in shelters and rescues across the country, you may feel a bit insignificant when looking at the big picture.

But really, it’s the small things that add up to help accomplish the big things. And think about it – if you can touch the life of one homeless pet, then that individual pet’s life will be better because of you – and that means everything to that one pet! Thankful Sunday Selfies

We here at Three Chatty Cats have a lot to be thankful for. So for our Sunday Selfies, we thought we’d pass along our thanks.

Handmade Toys are the Best

First off, a big thank you to Auntie Ellen – I mean the Tooth Fairy – over at 15 and Meowing for sending our little Olive some toys after her dental surgery, which I wrote about earlier. Ellen sent so many toys that Olive agreed to share some of them with foster cat Juno, who was excited to do her first ever Sunday Selfie!

Shelter Me: Community Matters (Episode 7)

Last May, I shared with you Episode 6 from the “Shelter Me” series. And recently, I was given the opportunity to watch the latest episode of the national PBS show “Shelter Me: Community Matters”.

Created by filmmaker Steven Latham, hosted by animal welfare icon Dr. Jane Goodall, and presented by the Petco Foundation, the latest installment of “Shelter Me” focuses on when communities come together to help animals in need. Continue reading “Shelter Me: Community Matters (Episode 7)”

Lakes Animal Friendship Society & “Nobody’s Cats”

Founded by Valerie Ingram and Alistair Schroff in 2008, Lakes Animal Friendship Society (LAFS) is based in Burns Lake, British Columbia in Canada. The group is run by the husband and wife team and recently became a non-profit charity.

Valerie and Alistair also authored a children’s book called Nobody’s Cats, which is how I learned about the rescue group. Fellow blogger Cori of Three Irish Cats wrote about the children’s book, and I promptly ordered it, finding it to be a great educational book that teaches children about trap-neuter-return (TNR) and the importance of caring for community cats. Did you watch the Rose Parade?

First off, Happy New Year! I hope 2017 brings you joy, happiness and love. Now, did you watch the Rose Parade yesterday? If you did, I hope you saw the Lucy Pet float. I was one of the volunteers who had the wonderful opportunity to help decorate the Lucy Pet float this year.

While at BlogPaws in June last year, my fellow attendee (Jaimi) and I met the Lucy Pet team. Somehow the float was brought up and we were added to the float decoration team. It was a fantastic experience and something I would definitely do again.

Decorating the Float

Jaimi and I drove up to Irwindale bright and early on December 27th. We parked at a designated volunteer lot and then were Continue reading “Did you watch the Rose Parade?”

It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas…

It should, right? Christmas is only four days away!

Just a quick maintenance note before I get to all the holiday fun. As I mentioned in my last post, I’ve now migrated the blog over to being self-hosted. I was told that anyone who subscribed to the blog via WordPress.com will now only see posts in WP Reader and will no longer receive emails when there’s a new post. If you still want to receive email notifications, then you will need to subscribe again, which you can do on the sidebar to the right (if you’re on a computer) or at the very bottom (if you’re on mobile). Sorry for the hassle – this only applies to WP.com readers. If you subscribed with your email address before, you should continue to receive email post notifications as usual.

5 Things to Be Thankful for this Thanksgiving

Sophie here! As many humans are currently hustling and bustling about, preparing meals, tidying up the house and welcoming guests, I thought I would take this time to tell you what I am – I mean – what we three chatty cats are thankful for this Thanksgiving.
