The day to shine a light on shelter and rescue pets, known as Remember Me Thursday, is taking place this week on – you guessed it – Thursday! So, let’s come together and light up social media on September 24th in honor of homeless pets everywhere.

Best Friends Su-Purrr Adoption

This past weekend, Ross and I volunteered at the Best Friends Su-Purrr Adoption event in Los Angeles. It was the group’s first ever cat and kitten focused event. Best Friends hosted several NKLA Coalition Partners (rescue groups in Southern California who are part of the No-Kill Los Angeles initiative) and over 300 cats and kittens were available for adoption. June is Adopt-A-Cat Month

June holds a special place in my animal-loving heart. Our first three pets found us in the month of June. We celebrated Olive’s Gotcha Day on June 7th, and Dexter’s Gotcha Day is today! And while he’s not a cat, Eddie’s 15th Gotcha Day comes later this month on June 22nd. I like to say that Sophie ruined our June pet streak by showing up in November.

The cats have their party hats on!

GetYourPet.com – A New Way to Adopt

Since starting Three Chatty Cats a couple of years ago, I’ve had several people reach out to me asking if I could help rehome a pet. A few times, people thought I was a rescue group. And other times, people just thought I’d be a good resource. I wish I’d known at those times about GetYourPet.com – a new website that offers home-to-home pet adoptions, bypassing the shelter altogether.

Anything that can help shelters, whether indirectly or directly, is a good thing in my book. GetYourPet.com does both, by not adding to already crowded shelters and also by donating a portion of their profits. Continue reading “GetYourPet.com – A New Way to Adopt”

CatCafé Lounge: LA’s First Nonprofit Cat Café

This past weekend I attended a sneak peek event at CatCafé Lounge, which is the first nonprofit cat café in Los Angeles! I had a fantastic time and think that the lounge is a great place for adoptable kitties to hang out while they wait for their forever homes.

5 Reasons to Adopt an Adult Cat

Making the decision to adopt a cat is the beginning of an exciting journey. And for each adopter, the journey is a little different. Today in our Adoption Tails Series, we will see how one adopter turned to searching online for her perfect furry friend – and searched specifically for an adult cat.

But before we get to Karen’s adoption story, here are some reasons to consider adopting an adult cat.

Let’s Shine a Light for #RememberMeThursday

Remember Me Thursday takes place this year on September 22, 2016. It is a day to remember that there are orphan pets in shelters and rescues who are waiting for their forever homes – and also to remember those who never made it out of the shelters.

Here at Three Chatty Cats, we strive to promote and support cat rescues and adoptions by highlighting rescue groups, sharing adoption stories, and showcasing individuals who do their part to help cats in need. So, we want to do our part in supporting this special day, Remember Me Thursday, by continuing to bring attention to shelter cats waiting for their forever homes. Now, let’s learn more about Remember Me Thursday! Continue reading “Let’s Shine a Light for #RememberMeThursday”

A Tale of Two Kitties

For the next installment in the Adoption Tails series, we have a special guest post written by Jacques Bouchard, who grew up with many cats throughout his life and is a self-proclaimed lifelong cat lover. Recently, one of his four cats passed away from cancer.

Jacques has written about his time with Mr. Monahan, the role that the special cat played in his family, and how he and his wife have worked to honor Monahan’s unique personality and special character, while remembering that many other cats are still in need of a forever home. And that adopting a new kitten (Ollie) can also be an acceptable part of the healing process, for both humans and fellow felines.

Spectacular Mister Monahan

Sometimes, we need our rescues as much as they need us. This was especially true with the story of myself, my wife Jessi, and Spectacular Mister Monahan. Continue reading “A Tale of Two Kitties”
