Chatty Cats: Menuless Breakfast

Hello! I wanted to start by thanking everyone for their kind words about Harley. And thank you to those who made beautiful graphics, to those who donated in Harley’s name, and to those who sent cards in the mail. Harley was loved by many and knowing that has been so comforting. Many have asked how the cats are doing. Dexter, Olive and Sophie are fine. For a while, Woodrow was pretty clingy, always wanting to be near and also sleeping curled up in the crook of my arm all night. He’s doing better now. We’re all settling in (whether we want to or not) to our new normal. Again, thank you for all the love and kind words.

Menuless Breakfast

Sophie: Mama, are you awake?
Mama: No.
Sophie: But…our breakfast.
Mama: It’s 4:30!
Sophie: I know! Meal prep takes an hour, so you should get up and get started.
Mama: It takes me five minutes to get your breakfast ready.
Sophie: If you were serving something good, it would take an hour.
Mama: Sophie!
Sophie: Can I at least see a menu?
Mama: You get what you get.
Sophie: Can I get that now then? My tummy will just have to make do with a mediocre breakfast.

The Week in Photos

Sophie led the way back upstairs when breakfast was finally ready.

Woodrow said he’s staying in the holiday scratcher until Santa comes.

Dexter consulted my desk calendar to see how long he’d be free of Woodrow.

  1. Gosh 4:30AM sounds wonderful compared to Teddy’s 3AM breakfast schedule! Glad everyone is adjusting to the new normal – it isn’t the same, but it’s new and we must carry on…..you all do it with a smile. Extra hugs……………..

    Love, Teddy and Pam

  2. You take the best photos. Glad things are settling in to a new normal. It takes a long time to get accustomed to one less furry “person” in your life. Thanks for the adorable Christmas card. 3. Sophie, you must enjoy sleeping in. I, Jake Housepanther, like my first breakfast around 3 a.m. Dexter, if you’re making deliveries for Amazon, my Can Opener says ring our doorbell and she’ll give you some snackies for the road. We both miss Harley, sending comforting thoughts.
