Chatty Cats: Words, Lazy and More!

Happy Friday! The big news here this week is that Ross had to go back into the office for work. He’d been working from home for a little over a year. I still work from home (I have for over 10 years)…but as you’ll see below, Olive would prefer Cat Dad at home instead.

Here’s what the cats were up to this week!

Words with Woodrow

Mama: Woodrow, who ate the cheese off my sandwich?
Woodrow: Hmmm…I don’t know.
Mama: You don’t?
Woodrow: It’s a conunundum.
Mama: You mean a conundrum?
Woodrow: A conundumdum.
Mama: Conundumdum?
Woodrow: Exactly.

Sweet Boy…?

Mama: Hi, Harley.
Harley: Not now, I’m concentrating.
Mama: Not now what?
Harley: I know you want to take my photo. Everyone does.
Mama: Everyone being…?
Harley: Well, you mostly. You’re my whole world, Mama.
Mama: OMG, that’s so sweet.
Harley: That’s not what…Okay, you have that one. You earned it.

Chatting with Friends

Sophie: I’m bored.
Mama: Okay.
Sophie: What do you think all our interweb friends are up to? Do you think they’re bored too? Do you think they want to chat with me?
Mama: I don’t know.
Sophie: Well, can you ask them?
Mama: You want to chat with all of them?
Sophie: Yes, please.

Lazy Sunday Monday

Mama: Whatcha thinking about?
Dexter: Whether or not I should get up for the day.
Mama: It’s after 3 already.
Dexter: I know, but it’s Sunday. You know, lazy day.
Mama: It’s Monday.
Dexter: So don’t get up then?

Where’s Cat Dad?

Olive: Have you seen Cat Dad?
Mama: He had to go back to the office today. After over a year of working at home! Are you worried about him?
Olive: Hmpf! No, I’m worried about my lack of pets!
Mama: I can pet you.
Olive: … So, when’s he coming home?

pretty tortie cat

I know Olive loves me, but she really loves her cat dad. She sits next to him, and if he’s not paying attention to her (gasp!), she’ll reach over and tap his arm and give a tiny meow. It’s a little excessive in the sweet department, I’d say. (Yes, I’m jealous.)

Teefies, Too!

Mama: It’s Whisker Wednesday!
Woodrow: Boom! Bam!
Mama: Got ’em! 📸
Woodrow: Pow! Wham!
Mama: What are those ones?
Woodrow: I wanted to show my teefies too.
Mama: I get it. They’re very cute teefies.

Is She Joking?

Mama: Excuse me, can I pet Harley?
Olive: Harley, whatcha think?
Harley: How many treats does she have?
Olive: Well, Mama?
Mama: Zero.
Harley: ∗chuckles∗
Olive: OMG, Harley. You hear this? I mean, who doesn’t bring a treat?

  1. Oh my…….that’s a HUGE adjustment for everyone. I imagine the “reunion” tonight when Ross gets home is liable to be a bit emotional – or else Olive will do what cats often do – just BARELY recognize his return to home and pretend it was no biggie. Cats….such little teasers!

    Hugs, Pam and Teddy

  2. I know I have said it before, but your humor and the kitties bring me immense happiness. I love receiving this email every Friday even though I follow your social media.

  3. Sophie, I’ll chat with you! I so relate to Dexter’s lazy Monday as I said the same thing to myself while in bed at 11:00 am wiped out from chemo no. 4 (one more to go!). I ended up spending most of the day in bed. So much better now!
Sending a hug to all the kitties.

  4. Woodrow doesn’t have a guilty face–just pondering the evidence. Yes, the interweb friends get bored to tears once in a while but it never lasts long. those were some seriously searching whiskers on Wednesday. Love Sophie in the basket.

  5. Poor Olive, I am sorry your Dad had to go back to the office. At least you have one servant home with you to cater to your every whim. I hope the Easter Bunny is good to all of you. XO

  6. You are all so cute! I dread having to go back to the office, I’ll miss the kitties so much – but, they have Cat Dad working from home, and like you, they like him better anyway – MOL!
