My Dirty Paws Fundraiser (Day 7 of 12 Days of Giveaways)

For Day 7 of 12 Days of Giveaways, it’s all about giving back. Today, we’re supporting a fundraiser created by My Dirty Paws for Give Me Shelter Cat Rescue, a rescue group based in San Francisco. We’re supporting the fundraiser in two ways. First, by purchasing and then giving away two adorable tote bags (from My Dirty Paws), where all proceeds go to the rescue. And second, by hosting a commentathon. Read on to see how it works and then enter our giveaway!

Raising Awareness for Give Me Shelter Cat Rescue

My Dirty Paws is an art project about shelter and rescue animals created by artist Stacy Tang. If you’re a longtime reader, you’ve likely seen me feature Stacy’s touching art before. She was inspired to start My Dirty Paws to document the lovely souls that she met while volunteering at animal shelters.

A few years ago, Stacy researched where some of the local and most at-risk shelter animals ended up. She discovered Give Me Shelter Cat Rescue. GMS is a small San Francisco-based rescue group run mostly by volunteers. They pull at-risk cats from local Bay Area shelters and place them in their network of foster homes. Because of GMS, many “difficult” cats have finally had the chance to decompress in a home environment and eventually be adopted.

Stacy notes that since GMS is mostly volunteer-run, they lack the marketing & PR resources to do effective fundraising compared to bigger organizations. To help raise awareness, Stacy uses her artistic talent to illustrate many of the GMS cats through My Dirty Paws.

Here are some of her illustrations: Emily, Sherlock & Wanda, Luna, and Mighty.

Are U Kitten Me? Fundraiser

Another way that Stacy has supported Give Me Shelter Cat Rescue is by starting a fundraiser by designing the Are U Kitten Me? Casual Tote. All proceeds from the tote bags go to Give Me Shelter.

You can purchase the tote bag at the My Dirty Paws store to support the Give Me Shelter Cat Rescue fundraiser.

  • The bag is 100% cotton
  • Handles have stress-point reinforced stitching
  • Machine washable
  • Measures 15.75″ tall by 15.25″ wide

Meet Casper!

I can’t have a post on a cat blog without showing a cat. This is Casper, whom Stacy adopted in 2014 from Peninsula Humane Society, where she volunteered. Casper is very mellow, gentle and affectionate. He loves cuddling and is crazy about bread crumbs. What a handsome boy he is!

  1. Oh how talented Stacy is….love her artwork and mission. So kind of you to have a giveaway involving her and her efforts. That little Casper is a cutie pie! Totally!

    Hugs, Pam (and Teddy)

  2. It’s been a hard year for non-profits everywhere. Many cats do not do well in a shelter setting but turn out to be fabulous pets. I’ve adopted two that were in that category. Both were great cats.

  3. What a beautiful heart Stacy has. Her artwork expresses that beauty. I would love to win one of those totes, and I hope more than a hundred people comment on this post. Thank you for sharing information about this wonderful organization. 🖤🖤

  4. Those are beautiful bags, what a thoughtful thing to do – you are a Superhero! I just love Casper, such a doll.

  5. yes, me and some friends and the owners of the local pet store where i shop. they would love this bag. thank you.

  6. Thank you for posting this. I love GMS and their mission and adopted my late cat Cleo ♡ from GMS. My friend Anat would enjoy this bag.

    1. I’d love the tote bag for myself because I’m always carrying cat stuff around! This is a great giveaway and so happy the comments equal donation!

  7. Yeah, I know a cat lady. ME!!! This bag would come in handy for Tigger’s multiple vet visits for his diabetes and his “go sees” (he’s a model) to keep his stuff in.

  8. I know a Cat Lady who would like that tote bag—ME!! I just love this tote bag. Daisy Mae’s toys and stuff and who knows what else I can use that cat tote bag for. Love Characterture on it.

  9. The bag is so cute and so happy to see all of the support for the cat shelter! All cats deserve a good home!!! Save those kitties!!!

  10. I met Stacy a few years ago at an animal sanctuary, she has the best energy & a beautiful soul💜 I would love to win this for one of my fellow rescuers, I LOVE her artwork!

  11. I love this tote bag and I love that proceeds go help a local shelter. My favorite local non-profit is Cats Exclusive Inc. They took great care of my babies and helped me find home for some strays in the past. I am definitely a cat lady. I went from two to five cats this summer after taking in strays. They were supposed to be foster kitties, but it was hard to find homes for them due to the pandemic and I love them all very much.

  12. Stacy is so talented, and we love her artwork and that bag. And Casper is flat out adorable. We sure hope he finds his forever home real soon.

That is so kind of you to have a commentathon for Give Me Shelter Cat Rescue.

  13. This is such a great fundraiser. I love to think about the cats that can be helped with the money you guys raise, and especially during the winter season. Thank you for all that you do! And also to Stacy for creating all this wonderful cat art. :)

  14. I myself am a wacky cat mom. I also foster when I can since my disability got to the point where I had to leave my job at the shelter. Amazing people who I’m still great friends with. I adore the tote and while the holidays are for giving im afraid I’d keep this. I most likely though will gift a few as I know plenty of kitty lovers.

  15. Give me shelter is the best, we’ve adopted two kitties from them over the years. Stacy is a true talent, as well!

  16. Stacy’s art work is AMAZING !!!!!! :)

N casper; ewe iz one total lee handsum dood….we iz glad ewe getted gotcha’ed; and how awesum oh yur pals heer at chatty catz ta help out …984 pawz UP…. blessingz ♥♥♥♥♥

  17. People that like cat stuff would probably really like this bag. I like cats, but I don’t really buy items with cats on them. The tote bag is a nice idea to raise funds for the shelter, though. It’s something that is useful. I hope a lot of money is raised to help the animals with this. It’s nice that you are using your blog to help.
