Happy Friday! So, I wanted to share with you what I’ve been spending (way too much) time on during quarantine. My birthday was last month, and Ross bought me the game Animal Crossing: New Horizons, which is the hot game that coincidentally came out March 20th and was the perfect timing for people staying safe at home. Over 13.4 million copies were sold in the first six weeks – and I’m sure it’s still going strong. The idea is that you move to a deserted island and work to build it up into a place where villagers will want to come live. Basically, you’re creating your own dream island.
I had never played earlier versions of Animal Crossing before (or any video game, really), but I’m hooked! Here is my cat room that I built in my house. I imported photos of my cats, of course. There’s even a litter box and cat beds on the other side of the room. Any other fellow Animal Crossing players here? If so, let’s island hop!
Here’s what the cats were up to this week!
Congrats to Olive
Olive: Well, tickle my tummy and color me impressed! It looks like congratulations are in order!
Mama: Aww, thank you! I was-
Olive: Hey, I’m talking about you congratulating ME on my three-hour power nap.
Mama: Why?
Olive: I’ve shortened it down from four hours. If anything deserves congratulations, I’m pretty sure that’s it.
Mama: Um, congrats?
#congratsallaround
Today on the blog I announced that I won 7 Certificate of Excellence awards from the Cat Writers’ Association for my 2019 blogging and social media activities. Here’s what the association/judges recognized: two product review posts, three photos, my overall blog in the humor/entertainment category, and my social media efforts in the humor/entertainment category. Needless to say, I’m extremely excited and honored. While I do this purely for fun and to share my cats, it’s still nice to be recognized. And a big congrats to all of the other Certificate of Excellence winners! (Oh, and congrats again to Olive on her power nap reduction time. 🤷♀️)
Never A Dull Moment
Mama: WOODROW!!!
Woodrow: Yeeesss?
#neveradullmoment
There I was enjoying my coffee this morning when someone launched himself several feet into the air to catch a bird…and landed on the screen door (#indoorcatproblems). He hung there for a bit until he figured out how to get down. He has never done this before and I think he was a little confused as to what to do. On the plus side, I now know our screen door can handle a 14-pound cat catapult. How’s your Caturday going?
Evening Pets
Dexter: Mama, pets please.
Mama: Your wish is my command.
Dexter: Then scratch that. Treats please.

Monday Mood

Cat Dad Cuddes
Sophie: Now to the kitchen!
Cat Dad: I have to put you down and get back to work.
Sophie: You said you’d carry me.
Cat Dad: I didn’t mean all day.
Sophie: Well, I did. Let’s compromise. Carry me for another 8 hours. And then the rest of the day, I’ll walk on my own.
Cat Dad: You get 2 more minutes.
Sophie: I don’t think you know what compromise means!!
#sophielovesross
As much as Sophie loves me, she really is a cat dad kind of cat. She’s happy to just cuddle in his arms like this or lay on his chest while he’s on his iPad. She always goes to him first for cuddles. And no, I’m not jealous. Really, I’m not! 😭
Pre-Bath
Mama: Bathtime?
Olive: No, this is my pre-bath bath.
Mama: Pre-bath?
Olive: This is my 2nd pre-bath. I have one more to go before the main event.
Mama: You take bathing seriously.
Olive: Don’t you pre-bath as well?
Mama: No.
Olive: I can tell, I was trying to be nice.

Bonus Friday Blooper
Sophie just walked into my office here. Do you think she saw something weird? Or is she remembering where her purse is?!?
Stay safe, everyone!
Follow our daily chats on Facebook and Instagram – or catch up on past chats!
woodrow… we are speechless… please please please tell us that trick… that is magic!
Olive is really “working” that pre-bath thing…..look at it this way – she will be VERY clean after it’s all over with! Woodrow on the screen reminds me of a cat I had many years ago. Loved climbing screens – I think we replaced his favorite climbing space 3 times in the years we lived there. We all live in hope that Sophie will eventually find that purse!!
Hugs, Pam and Teddy
Uh oh…. our mom maybe shouldn’t have read about that video game! MOL Congrats on your awards!
Heh … we have a screen climber here, too. But she’s the smallest, not the biggest. I’m not sure I want *my* 14-lb-er testing things! And I have had to rescue her every time since she won’t let me cut her nails! (Sophie’s outtake is priceless!)
My extravagant games are solitaire and jigsaw puzzles online! LOL!
Sophie, you are like me; I put stuff away to neaten up, then cannot find anything again. But that’s not as bad as looking for 10 minutes for my keys, only to find them already IN MY POCKET…
*sigh*
You kitties are all lookin’ so good. We are impressed Woodrow with your jumping and clinging skills ;)
The blooper pic…MOL!!

I hope the screen survived! I once lived next to a super friendly cat. She was so friendly, she’d come into my house eat my cats’ food, destroy their toys, use their litterbox, etc. It wasn’t unusual to see her napping on my sofa. If she couldn’t get in, she’d climb the screen. Eventually she ripped it. We had to replace it and use a guard. Our cats never did that. We installed a guard for the next door cat. Good thing she was a cutie!
Too funny this week! Everyone makes me giggle, but that Sophie and her expressions are belly-laugh worthy!
Forgot to congratulate you on your awards – well deserved all!
Congrats on the certs.! Jumping on the screen door should be a no no no! 😺😺😺

Congrats on all your well deserved Certificates of Excellence! And the mom says she must be old because she’s never heard of Animal Crossing, though she’s never been a video game player.
Congrats on the certificates.
Woodrow on the screen made me laugh, and Sophie’s expression made me laugh even more.
Cat daddies are the best … though, in this house, we prefer the term, “Not the Momma!”
That face, Sophie! MOL And that game sounds like lots of fun.
Sophie, that’s the face I make when I walk in on TW when she’s nekkid. Gasp! I’m a daddy’s girl cat too. Thanks for the smiles, guys!
wow Woodrow! Such agility! Just like Spiderman!
I am glad you had nice birthday. Happy Belated Birthday. That looks like a fun game. Congrats on ll your certificates- well deserved. And also congrats to Olive on that napping :) Have a great week! XO
What a nice hang out…MOL…That face when you want to say somthing, but your tongue gets in your way😹 Concatulations on the nominations. Very deserved! 😺Pawkisses for a Happy Sunday to all of you🐾😽💞
