Happy Friday! As many know, California has been on fire this week. Strong Santa Ana winds have been blowing through Southern California, with gusts up to 70 mph and humidity at less than 10%, which creates an extreme fire danger. While we are fortunate to not be in the immediate area of a fire, I woke up Thursday morning to the smell of smoke outside. We’re very thankful for the firefighters who have been working tirelessly on all of the various fires throughout both Southern and Northern California.
Here’s what the cats were up to this week!
Catio Fun
Mama: Sophie, did you have fun outside in the catio?
Sophie: Yes, why?
Mama: ∗sigh∗
#lifewithawhitecat
The Santa Ana winds are currently blowing through Southern California. I forgot to close off the catio. This is the result.
Supervisor On Duty
Harley: You missed a clump.
Mama: I’m not done scooping yet.
Harley: Exactly, because you missed a clump. It’s right there.
Mama: I see it.
Harley: Then why did you miss it?
Mama: Harley! I don’t need scooping supervision!
Harley: One day, you’ll get there. Just a little more practice, a little less backtalk.

Asking for a friend…
Dexter: Ma! … Hey, Ma!! You awake up there?
Mama: I am now.
Dexter: Woodrow wanted me to ask you when it’s time for treats.
Mama: You mean the Woodrow who is currently asleep on my chest?
Dexter: Um, yes, him.
Mama: Tell Woodrow he missed treat time.
Dexter: Woodrow thinks you’re lying!
Mama: Noted.
Dexter: Ma!!!

The Thinker
Mama: Whatcha doing?
Woodrow: I’m having a think.
Mama: What are you thinking about?
Woodrow: I haven’t decided yet. I’m thinking about what to think about.
Mama: Well, don’t overthink it.
Woodrow: I never do.

National Cat Tortie Day
Mama: Olive, did you know that today is National Cat Day?
Olive: ∗gasp∗
Mama: What are you doing?
Olive: This is my surprised face.
Mama: You’re mocking me, aren’t you.
Olive: Whaaat?
Mama: Because every day is cat day?
Olive: Well, I don’t know about that. But every day is tortie day.

A Little Windy Out!
🔊Volume up! The Santa Ana winds are really strong here in Southern California today – predicted to possibly be the strongest of the season. As many know, there are fires all over California right now. Thankfully, we are not near any of them. But we’re thinking about everyone who is – and of all the wildlife and animals affected by the fires. We hope everyone stays safe and evacuates if necessary! (Don’t worry, I closed the window after taking this video.)

Happy Halloween!
Dexter: Mama, how many trick-or-treaters do you think will be dressed as cats this year?
Mama: 78%?
Dexter: That’s acceptable.
Mama: I’m glad you think so.
Dexter: Please turn the other 22% away. No candy for them.
Mama: That’s a little rude.
Dexter: Well, at least give them the candy no one likes.

Bonus Friday Photo
I work from home. Yesterday morning, Sophie decided to join me during breakfast to see what I was eating…hoping she might get a nibble (she did not).
Have a wonderful weekend!
Follow our daily chats on Facebook and Instagram – or catch up on past chats!
why humans can not be grateful for our snoopervising? instead to say thank you my hero, they say a word with f or show us where the hole in the walla aka the door is… as if we wouldn’t know that hole…
Oh Sophie – you ruined your beautiful white coat out on the catio! Not for long though – a girl has to keep herself all fixed up and you managed to do that just fine. Everyone else looks good and happy and comfy. We’re glad you all are safe from the fires – it’s such a SCARY thing to have to go through and so much of beautiful California has burned up. Makes us sad………..
Hugs, Teddy and Mom too
Those winds sound like rain. I swear I could feel a breeze through my monitor. Stay safe. Blessings to all who are working to save whatever they can and for the wildlife who are pretty much helpless.
You kitties really keep your peep on her toes! Cutting no slack, that’s for sure!

Sophie, don’t you know smoking is bad for you! Looks like you are turning green! Glad you are not by the fires. They are a terrible thing. Litterboxes definitely require frequent inspection and high standards–good job Harley!
Stay safe, we’re sending purrs and prayers and POTP for California!
Don’t lick that coat Sophie, your Mom can get that out for you sweetie!
Everyday IS Tortie Day, at least at our house – MOL!
Everyone is so cute this week.
Thanks for keeping us entertained as only Chatty Cats can!
so happy you aren’t near the fires, thank goodness! Love the photos, especially the Halloween one!
Looks like Sophie had a very good time in the catio. I am glad the fires are not too close to you and hope they keep away.
Fun chat gang but that video was something, I’m glad y’all are safe & away from the danger.
Nice to see Sophie all cleaned up. I can’t believe how dirty she got from the catio. And Olive, my Penny agrees that every day should be tortie day. Praying for all affected by those awful fires. XO
Sophie! We hope that means you didn’t have to have a bath. We’re purring for all those affected by the fires.
Those fires are so scary. We have been thinking lots about, and purring and praying for, our friends and family there, and everyone affected. We are glad you are all okay.
Thank you for another humorous and heartwarming sharing of the conversing cats! :) Meow!
So glad you’re all safe. These are all brilliant as always. Mudpie wants to know when National Tortie Day becomes a thing.
Wow those are some difficult winds and we hope you all keep on being safe. We had one night of that wind here in the East and that was enough. We dont have the fire risk.
Oh, Sophie. Of course, it would be YOU covered in black. We hope you kept your purse out of the catio ;)
It’s heartbreaking to know so many people and animals are getting hurt from the fire. I hope it’s going to rain real soon, we wished we could send all our rain to California, it’s raining for days now here…Sorry you’re caught some root, Sophie even if you’re not close to the fire. Thanks for the lovely chats again, and as it is no Helloween anymore, here’s one Like from us…MOL😸We come to bring you Extra Pawkisses for stopping by at my bloggie and bringing lovely Birthday wishes. Thank you sweet furriends🐾😽💞
I kind of like the smell of smoke, but don’t like out of control fires.
That’s what happens with white cats. You can see every speck of dust or ash.
Stay safe over there. Hope the fire doesn’t spread. I hear California has these fires often. Thumbs up for the brave firemen and hope they stay safe, too.
