Happy Friday! Yesterday, we celebrated another gotcha gay – Dexter’s 9th! You may remember that we celebrated Olive’s gotcha day a couple weeks ago. We found both Dexter and Olive as strays in the month of June – Dexter nearly one year before Olive. I shared Olive’s kitten photos last time…so here are a few of little Dexter.
And now…here’s what the cats were up to this week!
Sing it, Dexter!
Mama: Oh my, what crazy whiskers you have, Dexter!
Dexter: 🎶 Thank youuu-ooo-ooo! 🎶
Selfies with Woodrow
Mama: Woodrow, why are there 63 photos of you on my phone?
Woodrow: I was taking a selfie.
Mama: 63 times?
Woodrow: Practice makes perfect.
Mama: But they’re all blurry.
Woodrow: I’m still practicing. Obvi.
Harley: Mama, put that brush on the floor and walk away slowly.
Mama: You need a brushing.
Harley: Walk away, Mama. Or else I send in the muscle.
Mama: The muscle?
Do your cats like being brushed? The only one of ours that likes it is tortie Olive. Sophie will tolerate it, but isn’t a fan like Olive who will flop over on her side when being brushed. Harley lashes out and bites the brush, then runs away. We’re working on it.
Sophie: Mama, turn on the heat!
Mama: It’s 68 degrees outside.
Sophie: Exactly! It’s freezing! Like, literally freezing.
Mama: Should we discuss the word literally? Also, the definition of freezing?
Sophie: ∗teeth chattering∗ Too…cold…to…talk.
I couldn’t find Sophie this afternoon. I finally found her under a blanket on the bed – by almost sitting on her. Really, it’s not that cold out!
Mama: Olive, wanna treat?
Olive: ∗slurp slurp slurp∗
Mama: Hold on, I can’t squeeze that fast.
Olive: GIVE ME DA TREAT!
Woodrow: There’s a hair in my food.
Sophie: Is it your own?
Woodrow: ∗nibble nibble∗ Yes.
Sophie: You didn’t have to eat it.
Woodrow: You should have called savesies if you wanted it.
Dexter: Mama, I’m mini size!
Mama: I thought I’d do a little #TBT in honor of your 9th Gotcha Day.
Dexter: Okay, but don’t forget to biggify me when you’re done. I’m super adorbs all mini and stuff, but I prefer my current size. Bigger belly, more room for all the treats I deserve today (and every day).
We found Dexter as a stray kitten on Father’s Day back in June 2010 when we were walking our dog. The tiny kitten was outside in the hot California sun and had a big gash on his lip – and weighed all of 12 ounces. Ross scooped him up in a towel and we quickly got him inside from the 100+ degree heat! He was our first cat and now we’ve added four more to the household. Kitten Dexter started it all! Happy Gotcha Day, Dexter!
Bonus Friday Bloopers
Here are some blooper shots of Olive. She loves those Churu treats. As you can see!
We hope everyone has a fantastic weekend!
