Happy Friday! We hope everyone had a nice week. Not a lot going on around here…besides the cats being chatty, of course. Our biggest highlight of the week was receiving Miss Ellen’s adorable new book (I Am Not A Skunk) from Amazon! Sophie insists that I read it to her every night before bed. Sometimes twice!
Here’s what the cats were chatting about this past week.
Mama: TGIF, Sophie?
Mama: Yeah, TGIF.
Just Sign Here
Woodrow: Mama, Dexter told me you played with other cats today. Is he just teasing me?
Mama: No, I saw lots of adoptable cats at a pet expo.
Woodrow: Are you going to adopt one? It’s okay if you do. I just need a little warning. Like a year should do. Maybe two to be safe. Deal?
Woodrow: Great! Now, if you could just sign this contract I’ve drawn up…
A Perfect Sunday
Dexter: Mama, can we spend all day in bed?
Mama: That sounds like a perfect day.
Dexter: I love you, Mama.
Mama: I love you, Dexter.
I got up at my usual 6am this morning (yes, even on Sunday) to feed the cats. Got back in bed with my coffee and a book and was happy that Dexter joined me. In these photos, you can see his shaved leg and belly. His belly is sooooo soft. Sophie was also on the bed, but Dexter chose to cuddle with his mama. ❤
Harley: Mama, there is a cat in your lap.
Mama: You are correct.
Harley: That cat is not me.
Mama: You never get in my lap. What, am I supposed to reserve it for you just in case you decide you want lap time?
Harley: That sounds fair.
Adopt A Shelter Pet Day
Today is Adopt A Shelter Pet Day! And while I won’t be adopting a pet today, I want to celebrate our two adopted shelter cats! Woodrow and Harley are happy to be the “Jr. Associates” here at Three Chatty Cats. They’ve added so much joy and happiness to our pet-loving home, Woodrow with his goofy antics and chest snuggles – and Harley with his grumpy yowls and loving (if not creepy) stares telling me he wants food.
Before being adopted by us, Woodrow (tabby) had been adopted previously and returned to the shelter with a urinary obstruction that the owners could not afford to take care of. As for Harley (Siamese), he was adopted twice and returned twice in the same year! Poor fella. But while he was at the shelter, he served as a blood donor to a fading kitten, who rallied back with Harley’s help. #HeroHarley ❤
Anyway, I’m happy to say that both Woodrow and Harley have forever homes with us. And I celebrate them today (and every day)! These photos are from around the time we adopted them (Woodrow was adopted in August 2017 and Harley in January 2018). You can see that Harley has put on weight (in a good and needed way) since being adopted. Both were foster fails and adopted from Best Friends Animal Society – Los Angeles.
The Nose Knows
Olive: (sniff sniff)
Dexter: Whatcha got, Olive?
Olive: Someone’s grilling salmon.
Dexter: Mmmm, I can almost taste it.
Olive: Let’s bust outta here and find that salmon. If my sniffer is correct, it’s two houses down on the right.
Sophie: Mama, I’m conflicted.
Mama: About what?
Sophie: I want to go back to bed, but I don’t want to miss out on any fun.
Mama: I can wake you up if something fun happens.
Sophie: You don’t know my definition of fun.
Mama: You could tell me.
Sophie: But then you’ll know all the trouble I get into. Er, I mean all the fun I have.

We hope everyone has a wonderful weekend!
