Happy Friday! We returned from vacation on Wednesday and the cats were happy about that. Harley poo’d in my office chair to show me just how happy he was. I’ll be posting about our trip next week to show you the “cats” we encountered. Stay tuned!

About the daily photos this past week…Someone on Instagram asked if the cat sitter was taking the photos while I was away. Usually, the photos are taken the actual day that I post them on social media. But I wanted to plan in advance and took this past week’s photos before I left. However, the cat sitter did take and send me the photos of Sophie with the curtain.

So, with all that said, here’s what the cats were chatting about this past week!

A New Mama

Harley: Are you my new mama?
Cat Sitter: No, I’m just staying here while your mama is on vacation.
Harley: You feed me and pet me just like mama. Are you sure you’re not my new mama? (whispering) Where’s my mama?
Cat Sitter: You miss her, don’t you.
Harley: I don’t want to talk about it.

A Negotiation

Cat Sitter: Dexter, may I pet you?
Dexter: I’m undecided.
Cat Sitter: I have a treat for you.
Dexter: If you give me eight treats, I’ll allow one pet.
Cat Sitter: That seems like a lot of treats for one pet.
Dexter: Take it or leave it. The offer expires in two seconds.

Hide and Seek (Sophie Style)

Cat Sitter: What are you doing behind the curtain, Sophie?
Sophie: I’m hiding. Go away and then come find me.
Cat Sitter: But I know where you are. Do you want to hide again?
Sophie: No. Go away, forget you saw me, and then come find me.
Cat Sitter: Um, okay.
Sophie: But don’t take too long. It’s almost my naptime. And perhaps bring a treat back with you. And then be ready to carry me to my napping spot. And do the countdown really loud before you come find me so I know you’re coming.
Cat Sitter: Are you this bossy with your mama?
Sophie: Yes. But oddly she doesn’t follow my instructions very well. I hope you do better.

Olive: Hey you! Whatcha doing up there?
Cat Sitter: Checking emails. What about you?
Olive: Just keeping my eye on you so I can report back to Mama.
Cat Sitter: I’m the one cat sitting you.
Olive: Well, I’m human watching you. Mama’s paying me in toona. How much is she paying you? And is it in toona or catnip? I may need to have a discussion with Mama if it’s more toona than I’m getting.

Cat Sitter: Sure, tell me when you’re looking all cute.
