Hello, friends! As you can see, the cats survived while Ross and I were away last weekend. Phew, I was worried (not really). Harley, who isn’t necessarily shy but doesn’t come around strangers much, was glued to the cat sitter’s side.
The evening we came home, something cute happened. We’d been home for a couple of hours. Ross went outside for something and came back in the front door. I was upstairs with Harley, so he knew where I was. When Harley heard the front door close, he ran to the top of the stairs to see who it was, which I’ve never seen him do before. I think he was looking to see if it was the cat sitter because he missed her. Upon seeing it was Ross, he came back to my office. False alarm, Harley!
I’m looking forward to a quiet weekend. No plans for once! Here’s what the cats were chatting about this past week.
Go Get Her, Olive!
Olive: The tables have turned…the hunter becomes the hunted.
Sophie: Mama, do you hear something?
Olive: The fearsome tortie creeps closer to her prey…
Sophie: Mama, have you seen Olive?
Olive: …so stealthy and calculating…
#FlashbackFriday to that time when Sophie was in for a surprise.
What About the Treats?
Cat Sitter: What’s wrong, Harley? Are you sad that your mama’s away? Do you miss her? Did you miss sleeping with her last night?
Harley: Wait, Mama’s gone? I was just worried that we’re out of treats. Are we out of treats?!?
Mama: Are you happy that I’m home, Dexter?
Dexter: What makes you ask that?
Mama: Because you haven’t moved from my lap since I got home.
Dexter: Let’s just agree that you never leave the house again.
Mama: I’m not agreeing to that.
Dexter: Then I’m not leaving your lap.
Monday: Hey Sophie, how’s it going?
What Was That?
Sophie: Ma! I asked for breakfast in bed this morning. I’m still waiting. Ma! Hey Ma!!!
Remember Me Thursday
Olive: Mama, today is Remember Me Thursday, right?
Mama: It is. Is there anything you’d like to share?
Olive: Well, you know that Woodrow and I don’t always get along. But I’m happy that you adopted him from the shelter – and Harley, too. I’m happy that they were saved. But we can’t forget about all the other orphan pets still waiting for their forever homes.
Mama: Very well said, Olive. Let’s shine a light for them. And remember those who never made it out of the shelter.
Bonus Friday Photos
Photos from last weekend courtesy of the cat sitter. I love that she sends me photos so I know they’re doing well.
And the blooper shot from the batch…Harley. As I said above, he was stuck to the cat sitter’s side, which means it’s hard to get a clear shot. But you can see how crossed his eyes are in this photo.
Do you have anything fun planned for the weekend?
