Chatty Cats: Stalking, Sit Ins and More!

Hello, friends! As you can see, the cats survived while Ross and I were away last weekend. Phew, I was worried (not really). Harley, who isn’t necessarily shy but doesn’t come around strangers much, was glued to the cat sitter’s side.

The evening we came home, something cute happened. We’d been home for a couple of hours. Ross went outside for something and came back in the front door. I was upstairs with Harley, so he knew where I was. When Harley heard the front door close, he ran to the top of the stairs to see who it was, which I’ve never seen him do before. I think he was looking to see if it was the cat sitter because he missed her. Upon seeing it was Ross, he came back to my office. False alarm, Harley!

I’m looking forward to a quiet weekend. No plans for once! Here’s what the cats were chatting about this past week.

Go Get Her, Olive!

Olive: The tables have turned…the hunter becomes the hunted.
Sophie: Mama, do you hear something?
Olive: The fearsome tortie creeps closer to her prey…
Sophie: Mama, have you seen Olive?
Olive: …so stealthy and calculating…

What About the Treats?

Cat Sitter: What’s wrong, Harley? Are you sad that your mama’s away? Do you miss her? Did you miss sleeping with her last night?
Harley: Wait, Mama’s gone? I was just worried that we’re out of treats. Are we out of treats?!?

Sit In

Mama: Are you happy that I’m home, Dexter?
Dexter: What makes you ask that?
Mama: Because you haven’t moved from my lap since I got home.
Dexter: Let’s just agree that you never leave the house again.
Mama: I’m not agreeing to that.
Dexter: Then I’m not leaving your lap.

Remember Me Thursday

Olive: Mama, today is Remember Me Thursday, right?
Mama: It is. Is there anything you’d like to share?
Olive: Well, you know that Woodrow and I don’t always get along. But I’m happy that you adopted him from the shelter – and Harley, too. I’m happy that they were saved. But we can’t forget about all the other orphan pets still waiting for their forever homes.
Mama: Very well said, Olive. Let’s shine a light for them. And remember those who never made it out of the shelter.

Bonus Friday Photos

Photos from last weekend courtesy of the cat sitter. I love that she sends me photos so I know they’re doing well.

And the blooper shot from the batch…Harley. As I said above, he was stuck to the cat sitter’s side, which means it’s hard to get a clear shot. But you can see how crossed his eyes are in this photo.

  1. You must have a great cat sitter because the gang surely looks relaxed and happy – and if they STAY that way after you’re home you know you’ve struck it rich with the sitter!! YAY!

    Hugs, Teddy

  2. Thinking that I might want to become a cat sitter when I retire. Ain’t NO WAY I’m staying home every day, day after day…when I don’t have to go to the office! Fostering and sitting…sounds like a plan!

  3. Love reading their daily shenanigans on Facebook. The blooper photos are so sweet and Olive’s Remember Me Thursday photo is just too darling for words. They are so lucky they have a cat sitter they adore. Have a fun weekend guys! We have some catio cleaning chores but mostly just snuggling with kitties.

  4. We sure are glad the kitties survived you and Ross being away! Harley’s chat with the sitter made us laugh, but we know he missed you, just like the whole gang. :)

  5. You all make me purr with your sweet portraits. That was super nice of the sitter to take photos of everypawdy while your humans were away. My humans went away for lots of days, but the petsitter didn’t take any photos of me or the doggie. I think I need you to talk to my sitter for me and give ’em the what’s for! Tee hee hee!

  6. Your white cat looks just like my Luna Belle. Do you know what the breed is? I’ve been trying to figure out if Luna is a just a white American shorthair or maybe a Khao Manee.

    1. Sophie won’t tell us what kind of cat she is. :-) We found her outside a movie theater. She was estimated to be about 6 months old. We’re guessing she’s just a regular domestic shorthair. Sophie says hi to Luna Belle!
