If you’re a feline aficionado, then chances are you’ve heard of CatCon – the cat convention held in Los Angeles. The third annual CatCon took place on August 12th and 13th at the Pasadena Convention Center, chock-full of cat products, cat lovers and even cat celebrities (both human and cat)! Here’s my little recap of my day at CatCon. And stick around for the giveaway at the end!
Jackson Galaxy
The first highlight of the day for me was finally meeting Jackson Galaxy. As some readers may know, I am a volunteer writer for the Cat Pawsitive program, which is an initiative of the Jackson Galaxy Foundation. So when I met him, I told him I was a volunteer with JGF and we chatted about the program. As I’m sure anyone who’s had the good fortune to meet Jackson, he is the nicest guy and very warm and friendly. I watched as many people spoke with him about their cats and even showed him photos and videos on their phone. He happily chatted away about cats with each one.
We’re Famous (well, not really)
When I stopped by the Triple T Studios booth to purchase a cute coin purse, I happened to mention my blog. And Joanne, who was working at the booth, said, “Oh, I know Three Chatty Cats!” No one has ever randomly said that to me before. Needless to say, that made my day. :-)
Cat Friends
One of the best things about CatCon is that it is a place for cat lovers to unite. If you’re the chatty type, you may even make new friends and connections. I attended with my husband, and I’m not the chatty type. However, I did have the opportunity to finally meet two social media cat friends in person! You may remember my interview with the cat duo Leeroy and Finn. Well, their human (Julie) flew in all the way from Tennessee and I made sure to meet up with her. Another friend I was able to meet is cat lover Leigh, who was one of the first supporters of my blog and has a huge cat-loving heart.
A Look at CatCon
Here are a few shots from the day. If you haven’t been before, I hope you’re able to attend CatCon one year. This was my second year attending and I know I’ll be back!
Giveaway!
I thought it would be fun to have a little giveaway for readers. So, here’s something for you (who doesn’t love cat socks) and something for your cat! The cat socks are from Triple T Studios and the bow tie is handmade from the Etsy shop Not So Kitty. Just enter a blog comment below and you’ll be entered to win.
The giveaway is open to U.S. residents who reside in the 48 contiguous states, 18+ years of age, except where prohibited by law. One winner will be selected randomly by Random.org and contacted via email. The winner will have 48 hours to claim their prize. Failure to do so will result in forfeiture of the prize, and a new winner will be randomly selected. The giveaway closes on Monday, August 28, 2017 at noon Pacific. This is not a sponsored giveaway.
Have you ever been to CatCon? Or a similar type convention?
Follow Three Chatty Cats on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and Pinterest!
As you know I was supposed to attend with Nutrish for Cats (the MAIN sponsor of Catcon) and I am totally bummed that due to my kidney stones I couldn’t. This was a great recap!! I know Joanne well (she is a sweetie). Not entering the give-away because I was supposed to go, so will let others enter. Hoping I will see you next year or who knows, maybe our paths will cross before then?
Did you see that there is a DogCon in 2018? Looks like it’s being put on by the same group. I wonder if Nutrish will sponsor that as well. You may have two opportunities to go to LA next year!
I have to all three CatCons and love them! I also enjoy meeting different bloggers that I follow every day. Your photos are great! Maybe we’ll get to meet next year! Georgia from georgiasgifts.com
That’s wonderful that you’ve been to all three! I need to plan my visit better next year. I had to go to Mission Hills to finalize our new cat’s adoption the same day, so I felt a little rushed. But yes, maybe we will see each other next year!
what fun…mom says she would love to see it (someday)
I have not been to a cat convention yet! I would love to go to CatCon next year as looks like you had a great time.
Oooo … I just learned Ian Somerhalder is a long time fosterer. Didn’t know he had a foundation, though. Must have been a lot of fun. My chances of getting to LA are slim; it would be fun to go though! (Not entering the giveaway because … Canada!! ;-) )
Well, if you ever get to LA, you better look me up!!! :-)
That looks seriously amazing and had to be lots of fun!
That looks amazing! Even though my mum isn’t the chatty type either she would love it if we had something like that in England!
I’ve wanted to attend a CatCon for three years, but the cost is prohibitive! There is also BlogPaws, which seems like a lot of fun too. I just purchased a ticket to see “Cat Videos Live!” in Detroit, Michigan in October…this will be my ‘first’ cat convention! Nifty giveaway!
Looks like my version of HEAVEN!! Sadly we don’t have one in Toronto!
I don’t think we have this on the east coast. At least I never heard of it. The closest we get are the bigger cat competitions that attract vendors. Sounds like a blast!
That looked like a great and fun event. I wish they had something like that in the UK.
CatCon sounds like heaven on earth for cat lovers…I hope to get there one day!
Looks amazing! Maybe someday I will make it there!
Didn’t make it but it’s on my list! I’m hoping to make PopCat in Miami in October! Much easier since I’m East coast! Enjoyed following everyone’s posts! ❤
I wish we lived closer so TW could go. I gave Pop those socks for Christmas! TW also has that coin purse and even gave one to Aunt Pauline for her birthday. I guess you can guess we’re big fans of Triple T.
We’re confused. How can it be a cat convention if there aren’t any cats? Mr. Galaxy is one of our favorite human TV stars, but even he isn’t a cat. Snoops and Kommando Kitty
There were cats there for adoption. I heard from my vet that ALL of them were adopted!!! Which is wonderful!
This is something I woulddefinitely be interested going to… if only I wasn’t so far!
I would LOVE to go just once! Can’t go wrong with cats, can you? Even The Boy would die to meet Jackson Galaxy!
ps – Don’t enter us in the drawing :)
The mom wishes she could have been at Cat Con. It really looks like fun. Thanks for sharing it with us.
We would so luv to go to CatCon. Glad you got to go and see it all and be a pawrt of it. Maybe someday… Big hugs and great give away.
Luv ya’
Dezi and Raena
This sounds so fun and of course, I would love to meet Jackson. I have never been to this kind of event, but it sounds like a blast and so much fun to be around fellow animal lovers.
I love all your pics of CatCon. It sounds like a great time was had! What was your fav moment and who is that big black and white kitty mascot? Mom hasn’t been to a CatCon, only a ComicCon & BlogPaws Conference. Purrs.
Fave moment was definitely meeting Jackson Galaxy! The B&W kitty is the mascot for Alley Cat Allies. He was batting around a cat toy, too. I’ve been to ComicCon (and BP) as well! Quite a different experience than this. :-)
I so wish I was closer enough to go to catcon!
Great to see another perspective. I did two CatCon posts and so glad you included a shot from Adventure Cats. The author blurbed my book. If you’d like a review copy Of Black Cats Tell All, email me. The media kit is at our blog. The discounted e-book is available for a limited time https://gum.co/dKbXL before the print version is on sale on Amazon in September.
It was great meeting you and your husband Rachel! Catcon was awesome and hope to go again next year.
I would totally go if it were closer, but being in New England, getting there is not easy. Glad you enjoyed it. Skippy would look quite dapper in that bow tie!
Mommy wanted to go to CatCon because she wanted to see Ian Somerhalder. He was supposed to be here in NYC but cancelled his event. She was very disappointed.
The giveaway is now closed.
