I know I’m on a quick blogging hiatus (see why here), but I just had to share this with you!
As you know, June is Adopt a Shelter Cat Month and guess what’s making this month even better? Jackson Galaxy will personally be driving over 1,000 miles to help save homeless cats for The Jackson Galaxy Foundation’s (JGF) new program, Operation Homeward Bound.
Here’s the full scoop, straight from JGF.
- The 1,000+ mile route: California to Colorado
- Jackson will be chronicling his 16-hour journey, introducing his feline passengers and interacting with fans along the way.
- Viewers can tune in live on Monday, June 27th at 10pm ET / 7:00pm PT via The Jackson Galaxy Foundation’s Facebook, Twitter and Instagram accounts, using hashtag #JGF1000.
- The goal is to raise critical awareness and funds to enable Jackson to continue creating life-saving programs and partnerships with shelters across the country.
- Operation Homeward Bound is the first mission of The Jackson Galaxy Foundation to transport animals from overcrowded shelters to larger capacity shelters with the ability to assist additional pets in need.
The Jackson Galaxy Foundation has chosen its inaugural partners to include Best Friends Animal Society – Los Angeles and the Humane Society of Boulder Valley. Jackson says, “I have worked with these hard-working organizations for years, and we share the same commitment to go above and beyond to make a difference in the lives of animals.”
I know, like we needed another reason to love JG even more…but there you go! (I think the cool kids call him JG, but I can’t be sure – you know, since I’m not of that crowd.)

What do you think? How awesome is this transport event?

I agree! Just had to share before hitting the road! :-)
Thank you for sharing.
Jackson Galaxy is quite the guy and his name will certainly help many cats get a new home.
Shoko
Thank you , for helping so many humans to understand their cats. Wonderful work you do for all. From a true cat lover forever.
That’s so exciting!!! I’ll definitely be trying to catch some of the excitement on social media :)
Fantastic idea! Hope it is the first of many such efforts and wildly successful. Thanks for sharing.
JG (tee hee) does so much to help the wonderful world of cats in every possible way – his journey will bring attention to “the cause”…….he’s a wonder!
Hugs, Sammy
I think this is a great program. I wish he’d start working with smaller rescues cos those are the ones that desperately need his help and guidance.
It sounds great! I really like Jackson Galaxy. He goes beyond talking about what needs to be done and actively works for animals. Thanks for sharing this!
You’re not in the cool kid crowd? Awww…. I bet you are. I bet you are, for sure!
Purrs,
Seville.
Donated….. One of those miles belongs to our clan, Sammi Jo, Jax, Hallie Blue, Sebastian (Bassy Boy), and our outside Black Cloud Ferals, 10 and counting.
Aww, that’s wonderful, KrazzyTrukker!
A rock star – on so many levels- through and through
He certainly is!
Awesome. I had no idea who he was until I came across his Facebook page a couple months ago. He seems to care so much – and people rave about his products.
WoHoo, maybe he’ll make it to Idaho yet! I’ll tell the Tribe of Five to be on the lookout.
LOL. I didn’t know the cool kids called him JG – clearly, I am not of that crowd either. Also, looks like I missed the live feed on June 27th. Still trying to get caught up/get my act together after BlogPaws.
He was live feeding all throughout too… It was very cool to see! And I think you’re a cool kid! :-)
JG is Saving Lives, One Kitty at a Time… Pawsome! Sharing your post on my FaceBook Timeline. Thanks for stopping by my blog this week! -Katie Kat.
