Introducing “Three Chatty Cats Chatting”

Sophie says…

Sophie here, the cutest, sweetest and most humble of the cats. I’ve been giving our Human Lady Mama a hard time because she started a blog called Three Chatty Cats, but she rarely ever shares anything about us – the actual cats! She said something about keeping the blog focused on cat rescues and individuals doing their part to help cats. Some nonsense about how not all blog readers want to read about us cats.

Well, hmpfh to that!

I told her that some people DO want to read about us cats! In fact, some people find us more interesting than those do-gooders. She reminded me that do-gooders make the world go ’round, especially for a lot of homeless kitties like I once was. I guess I see her point. Anyway…

I was finally able to convince the Human Lady Mama that she needs to blog more about us three cats (and by that, I mean mostly me). We should have our own space to share our profound thoughts and reflections as well as our squee-worthy pictures. We are super excited to start sharing our thoughts with you. But before that, I’m going to give you a bit of background on us, since many of you may not know a thing about us cats. For which I blame the Human Lady Mama. What you see below (after the Mama’s quick message) is upgraded stuff from our About page, which the Mama had originally written herself, without any input from me. So I had to correct that for her, naturally.

Thanks for reading and we (the cats) look forward to chatting with you!

Hugs and meows,
Sophie Zee Kitty

A word from the Human Lady Mama

Until now, I have kept Three Chatty Cats focused on rescues and others doing their part to help cats, which I will of course continue to do. But I’ve found that some of my more popular content has been about the cats, probably because the readers love cats! I decided that a little bit of variety was in order, so you will now start to see posts about or even from my three cats – Dexter, Olive and Sophie – who inspired this blog. I hope you enjoy reading about them and thanks for supporting us thus far in our blogging journey!

Happy Reading! ~Rachel

Sophie Says…

First, I present to you our big brother Dexter. He’s my best friend (haha to you, Olive). I love him very much and I’m pretty sure he loves me back. Here’s what you need to know about Dexter.

Dexter-AboutName: Dexter (he’s a boy cat)
Date of Birth: June 1, 2010 (the Human Lady Mama estimates this to be his b-day)
Date of Rescue: June 20, 2010
Rescue synopsis: Dexter was found as a three-week-old kitten in Palm Desert, California on a 100+ degree day!
Likes: Shredding Kleenex, sneaking into the garage, cuddling with me and Olive (separately, of course), looking grumpy, and eating my special diet food. He’s also a master groomer of the highest order.
Dislikes: Everything else – and I mean everything!
Known for: Crying loudly in the morning until the Mama gets up to feed him. He’s the shyest of us three cats. And hey, I heard that Dexter is the favorite of some blog readers. I’m not sure what that’s about!

Next I will tell you about my evil sister, Olive. I say she’s evil, but she’s not so bad. I like to give her a hard time because she hisses at me all the time. I mean all. the. time. I know I’m the kid sister, but shouldn’t Olive be nice to me every once in a while? Anyway, here’s Olive’s stuff. Blabbity, blah, blah.

Olive-AboutName: Olive (she’s a girl cat)
Date of Birth: April 7, 2011 (the Mama’s just guessing)
Date of Rescue: June 7, 2011
Rescue synopsis: Olive was found by asphalt workers outside the Human Lady Mama’s house, approximately eight weeks old at the time.
Likes: Lasers, treats and sitting in boxes.
Dislikes: Me! And being picked up. She absolutely hates that.
Known for: Being a loner, begging for treats, spending all day in her gargantuan size box, being my arch nemesis, growling at poor me, hissing at innocent me, swiping at sweet little me after I chase her down the hall – I just don’t get it! Must be that famous tortitude I always hear about.

So, that just leaves ME! The beautiful, smart, charming Sophie. I’m the baby of the family, which means I’m always innocent. I always never get into trouble. The humans never find me on the counter or pulling Q-tips out of the trash. Never!

Sophie-AboutName: Sophie Zee Kitty (I’m a girl cat, but not a girlie-girl cat)
Date of Birth: May 29, 2014 (I won’t tell Mama the real date)
Date of Rescue: November 29, 2014
Rescue synopsis: I was found outside a movie theater by security guards who (easily) guilt-tripped the Human Lady Mama into taking me home. (“We called animal control and you know what will happen to her at the pound!”) I also did my part and batted my baby blue eyes at her. I was about six months old at the time.
Likes: FOOD! And FOOD!
Dislikes: Nothing, except for Olive. (And Eddie.)
Known for: Stealing straws, stealing bottle caps, terrorizing Olive, being the goofball of the family, occasionally getting into a bit of trouble, loving on Pops, chattering to Moms, basically being perfect.

And on this Mother’s Day, here’s each of us cats with our Human Lady Mama

So that’s us, the Three Chatty Cats and our Human! Don’t be shy (like silly Dexter). Leave a comment below and say hello. We would love to hear from you… because you’ll be hearing much more from us soon! I’m Sophie, signing off for now. Meow!

  1. I can tell you right now, that I will love your little chirps Sophie. I’m looking forward to it. It was indeed a great disservice to you kitties, that Mama left you out of the blog. I heard that you were the goofball of the family and would love to compare notes with our goofball, Mr Jack.

  2. Sophie, you know we blog about us all the time! We can’t wait to hear more from you and the other two chatty cats. :) Though we do like the rescue stories too.

  3. Hi Sophie, Dexter and Olive, nice to meet you all. I am waiting to read you blog, I know cat life is very exciting because I am a cat. My name is Kosmo and I live in a faraway Finland. Hope to see you soon!

      1. Hi Sophie, thank you for answering. Of course I will say hello from your Human Lady Mama if I see that person. I hope you all have a nice day! Kosmo.

  4. Nice to meet you all and learn more about you. I agree you should get more blog time, although I do enjoy reading about rescuers too. Olive sounds like my tortie, Penny with the growling- tortitude is definitely real :)

  5. I think this is a pawsome idea…*of course* we want to see more of you three wonderful kitties!!!

  6. We adore your photos with your human. We just finished reading everything about each of you. Mom wants to know if Sophie is deaf. Since you didn’t mention it, we guess not. Our angel Madison was a blue-eyed, white cat, but he wasn’t deaf, as so many of the white, blue-eyed cats are. Mom got a bit of a chuckle out of your peeps being Ross and Rachel. Wishing Mom Rachel a blessed Mother’s Day filled with love and kitty cuddles. XOCK, Lily Olivia, Mauricio, Misty May, Giulietta, Fiona, Astrid, Lisbeth and Calista Jo

    1. No, I’m not deaf. Although I don’t listen to the Mama very much, so she probably thinks I am. Yes, it is very easy for people to remember their names when meeting them for the first time. Although Pops likes to introduce them as Rachel and Ross because oftentimes people don’t make the connection when her name is said first. :-) ~ Sophie

  7. I love your post, Sophie, and can’t wait to hear what you have to say about things! I am excited to see more pictures of you and your siblings. You are an adorable bunch! Happy Mother’s Day, human Mom!

    1. Thanks Pinky! If we HAD to have another dog sibling in the house, we think one like you would be awesome. The Mama tells us how cute and adorable you are. And you’re more our size, which is just perfect! ~ Sophie

  8. Nice post, Sophie! Rescue stories rock, but we are looking forward to seeing (and hearing from) you three more often, too! :)

  9. I loved loved LOVED getting to know all three of you! Thanks for sharing and Sophie you did an especially excellent job introducing your siblings!

We have found that balance is important – the cuteness and fun balanced with the more serious stuff. People seem to like that – I love your “do gooder” stories, but also loved learning about the three chatty kitties who inspire you to find and share these stories.

Looking forward to meeting in person at BlogPaws!

  10. Nice to meet you all!

Your are right, having some cat stories is good. It’s like eating nothing but treats, it stops being WOW TREATS! and becomes oh man treats AGAIN. Variety, some fun some serious, works awesomely!

  11. Hi effurypurdy, just stopped by from Dash Kitten to say it’s furry nice to meet mew all! *waves paw*

We really like your blog and we’ll be back! MOL

  12. Wow what great stories all. We are rescue and foster kitties so that is very important work. We do not post much about that but like reading about others and how they help those in need.
We will be following you three and Lady Mama too!

  13. We have been so happy to have you visiting my blog for a while now we thought it was HIGH TIME we visited yours! It’s great to learn about how you came to find your forever and ever homes – ALL of us have been lucky – I wish there was no such thing as “homeless” for animals OR humans. Wouldn’t that be just grand? Anyway, it’s nice to know you and we hope you enjoy US as much as we will be enjoying YOU!

    Hugs, Sammy and Mom Pam

    1. Thank you Sammy and Mom Pam! We’re so excited that you stopped by. We absolutely love following blog. Agreed, no more homeless pets or humans would be wonderful. Little by little, step by step – we will get there! ~ Sophie

  14. Hi Sophie, Dexter, Olive and Rachel!! So very nice to meet you! Sophie, you did an excellent job introducing everyone. This is my first time visiting your blog. Congratulations on being a BlogPaws Nose to Nose finalist!!! It’s exciting isn’t it. I hope to meet you in Phoenix and I’ll be reading more inline. If you like fun dog blogs, come by and visit my Pixel Blue Eyes blog sometime.
    Your new friend, Pixel

    1. Thanks Pixel. Yes, very exciting! The Mama hopes to meet you in Phoenix, but us cats can’t take time out of our busy schedule to make it. Truth be told, we hate traveling. Well, I’m off now to check out your blog! ~ Sophie
